IsGood Woodworks WE-BUILD Program
Would you like to work directly with a professional shop to learn and participate fully in your own cabinet or furniture project? We offer this program to allow anyone with an interest in making things, a minimal budget, and a desire to learn by doing to team up with us to build their own custom cabinets, furniture, or other wood projects.
Custom woodworking is expensive, but it does not have to be only for the rich. Your own time is a valuable commodity. We can guide you through the process of turning that time directly into what you envision. With our information systems and teaching skills we are able to turn a complex project into a series of simple tasks that almost anyone can do.
We help you to design, build, finish and install your project. It starts with an initial consultation at our shop where we talk about your design and estimate the cost and time if we were to build it for you. Based on that info, we set a goal for the amount of time you would like to contribute, and re-estimate taking that into account.
When we agree to move forward, we will work out the sharing of tasks to suit your preferences then go to work. We are a co-operative shop with lots of experience working with guests, and it can be a lot of fun, AND very productive.
No worries about what times you have available, we are flexible.
Contact us at 206-767-3757 via email, or through our sites listed at the top of this blog on the right. We are at 4660 E Marginal Way S, Seattle WA 98134

This sounds like an interesting idea, and one of the few Facebook ads I ever clicked. What sort of equipment, space, etc is available? It would be good to have a direct link to this from your intro page.

This is such a great idea. Wish I would have had the option to take advantage of it. We just had our kitchen remodeled. I think I’ll have to think of something else to build to try this out.

This sounds like fun! I do woodworking projects, but I lack some of the necessary skills to build furniture and cabinets. I will look more into your scheduling.

To put my old profession of cabinetmaking back to loving use, I have held onto this kind of idea for a business, but for simpler quicker projects with 1-4 women at a time, or 1-4 young people. It’s a great idea you have John, and I wish you the best!

Sue,
Thank you for your kind words. We have a free monthly “Open Shop Day” through Meet-up ( http://www.meetup.com/Blunt-Woodworks-friends/ ), that is something like your variation on the idea.
